To our Community:

This year has been especially hard at PHRA. We have watched our friends and community suffer as a result of the effects of COVID, and in 2021, we have lost over 100,000 people to overdoses in the US.

Beyond providing safe use supplies and syringe access, we have been focused on meeting all needs of our community of people who use drugs. We have continued to expand our services; providing encampment outreach, partnering with mutual aid groups to provide supplies, on site HEP C testing, resource navigation and treatment, and providing meals for participants at our sites. We have recently expanded our services to include housing navigation and placement. We are also excited to relaunch our Suboxone program, through a new partner, while maintaining our beloved provider.

One of our biggest announcements - we opened Z's Place (Aurora drop-in) this year! It’s a 4000 square foot space offering an array of wrap around services. We have syringe access, safer smoking supplies, a clothing closet, HEP C testing, HIV testing, acupuncture, food and coffee, a washroom, library, WIFI, wound care, computer access, counseling, a charging station, doula support, and more!

We also moved into the Christ Episcopal Church in the University District. We offer the same services as our Aurora site, just outside under the white tent 4 days a week.

We started a Mail Order Exchange for South and rural King County, for areas that have been largely underserved. For people with limited access to harm reduction supplies outside Seattle, supplies can be directly shipped to the home in discreet packaging by ordering off our website.

We expanded our North and East King County Exchange to Monday (Encampment Outreach) and Wednesday (Home Delivery) in order to reach people with barriers to travel.

We continue to serve all of Kitsap County via Mobile exchange three days a week, as well as South Snohomish County, which is still unfunded, and in desperate need of additional financial support.

We have expanded because our community has needed us more than ever during this pandemic. We have pointed ourselves in a direction of lifting up our community, flattening the archaic power structures that have stifled our work in the past, and put the control back in the hands of people who use drugs. We are focused on centering equity, and dismantling white supremacy. As a result of these commitments to change, we have experienced growing pains, resulting in adjustments and revisions of our leadership and board of directors.

In 2022 We are excited to welcome new faces and new fresh ideas to PHRA in 2022, We are working on some exciting things and are looking forward to continuing to provide a space for life saving services, conversations, rest, care, organizing, and understanding

We would like to send a special thank you to all of our supporters this year, first and foremost our participants, who we look to daily for their expertise, those who donated to us, our volunteers, Staff, and supporters in the community. We appreciate you all so much!

In love and solidarity
